We're home!

Thanks for praying for us while we were in New Jersey this past week. No one else besides Dana and Ryan came down with the 24-hour stomache bug, so thank you very much for your prayers. Camp went very well. All of our youth group kids did an outstanding job as counselors. They handled various situations with great insight and wisdom, loved on kids and made a visible impact on eternity in the lives of the inner-city campers. From my perspective as a director, the schedule was very unpredictable for reasons outside my control. It had the potential to be a pretty chaotic camp, but the counselors really stepped up to the plate and made it a huge success. They truly did an outstanding job. In appreciation for their servant attitudes, Ryan even bought all of us tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in NYC! You can see all our pictures from the trip here.

Vacation Bible School help needed

Julie Barnes is looking for volunteers to help with VBS this year, July 16-20, 9:00 to 11:45 AM. She still needs crew leaders, game helpers, a Wednesday guy drama person, nursery, and craft helpers. Free daily online Bible studies for teens

A new international youth ministry called Xtreme Youth Alliance launched last weekend on over 80 Christian radio stations all the country. I'm in charge of coordinating their online daily Bible studies and have recruited a couple students to help write the studies. The idea is to make it a Bible study by teenagers for teenagers. Sam, Sarah, and Allison are the authors from our youth group and they've been writing outstanding Bible studies so far! If you'd like to get these Bible studies delivered straight to your email Inbox every morning, visit here and sign up!

Bible studies start at the Schmoyer's house

Bible studies start at the Schmoyer's house in July. Check out our online calendar to see when your age group is meeting and to get directions to our house. Just to clarify, there are no grade restrictions for these Bible studies. Grade assignments are only an attempt to split the group into smaller more manageable sizes and to create age-appropriate discussion. If you want to come with friends who are in a different grade, that's totally fine. Bring a bathing suit to go swimming in our lake (weather permitting) along with a towel, sunscreen and dry clothes. Also bring a snack or a drink to share with everyone, your Bible, and a friend.

Monday Night C-Group Camping Trip

The Hurlbut's Monday Night C-Group is going on a camping trip to Battle Lake. They'll leave at either 9am or 3pm and return to the church on Tuesday, July 10th by 3pm. To sign up or for more information, contact Karen Hurlbut at 320-886-5589.

July ParentLink Newsletter is published

The July issue of The ParentLink Newsletter is now ready. With the world powers coming together to talk about the issue of poverty throughout the world, and with Bono's ONE campaign, now is a great time to get teens involved with social issues, specifically poverty in the world and in the United States. As Christians, we are called to help the poor. My prayer is that this issue will encourage and motivate your families to act, to help, and to be a light for Christ in this world. Download a PDF version here.

Canoe Trip updates

Remember that the dates for the canoe trips are July 15 for Jr. High and July 29 for Sr. High. Mark these dates on your calendar for a great time on the Crow Wing River with Gloege Canoe Outfitters. Plan to attend the 8:30 AM worship service at church and then leave immediately afterwards. More info including cost and signups are coming from Meri Ripley.
