Prayer requests from Breakaway Camp 2007 Print E-mail
Written by Tim Schmoyer
Monday, 25 June 2007
So far camp has been going very well. This group of Alexandria youth group kids have been excellent counselors. They're all very flexible, they've stepped up to the plate during critical times and they've done a great job of being role-models, sharing testimonies, teaching Bible studies and leading devotions. They've organized their kids well and have handled difficult situations with maturity and wisdom. We've already started to see some life change taking place in these student's lives. Even yesterday one of Maggie's campers came up to me all excited and said, "Mr. Tim! Guess what? I learned a lot in Bible study today. I learned that Jesus is God and that he was put in Mary's belly and she didn't even do anything nasty."

I do have a prayer request for all of you, though. A pretty violent 24-hour stomache virus is starting to spread. It was brought on camp by a lady who had it the day before, spread to Ryan (one of our camp leaders) who was out of commission all day yesterday and passed on to Dana who got sick during the night. That leaves only me, Tim, in charge of all leadership responsibilities now. We're praying with all our strength that God will control what is completely outside our control and will prevent me, the counselors and the campers from catching it, too.

Here are some prayer requests from each of the counselors that they'd like to share with you to pray for, too:

Jenna and Rachael
-- Angel (a camper) is very quiet and starting to come out of her shell.
-- Dena is finally getting along with everyone in the cabin.
-- Kenya might have pink eye and is homesick

Brittney
-- Pray that Lillian will believe in God
-- Pray that the girls will get along

Maggie
-- Pray for Zippora and that the girls in the cabin will start to include her. Pray that Zippora starts to be nice to all of them.

Luke
-- Tymir is homesick
-- Zach is sad because the others laughed at him. Pray that I will help him see that Jesus loves him.

Spencer
-- Amil is aways tired. Pray that he will have energy.
-- Jason wants to be in charge and talks too much.
-- Zach just came to my cabin. Pray that he will fit in.

Laura and Lindsey
-- Saige is constantly being picked on by all of the other girls. Pray that they'll get along and that Saige will find her pillow.
-- Pray that Airiana will feel included.
-- Pray that we will have the right words to use while trying to answer their questions.

Thanks for praying for us! Today is our last full day with the campers before they go home tomorrow. I know it will be difficult for some of these campers to leave their counselors and probably difficult for some of the counselors to say goodbye to their campers.

I'm still updating the website via text message throughout the day and I've added pictures every night. To see what's going on, visit AlexandriaYouth.com.
