Belize Missions Trip - June 18
We made it! Despite being delayed for a couple hours in Miami due to thunderstorms, we made it to the VERY hot Belize City. In fact, the heat hit us like a brick wall as we exited the plan to the runway in Belize, mostly due to the 92% humidity. Thankfully, the trip was pretty uneventful. Everyone stuck together through the Minneapolis, Miami and Belize airports, no one lost their passports, boarding passes, or any of the other little things that could make group traveling a hassel. Even going through customs in Belize very surprisingly well as the luggage showed up like clockwork. The security workers even parted the crowd a little bit so we could all exit the airport together. Thank you for praying for us!
After meeting Pastor Mark and his wife, we loaded into the church's bus, I filled it up with gas ($5.50/gallon!) and we came straight to our hotel for dinner. We're actually the only guests staying here right now (maybe because we take up half the facility). The owners are very friendly and have very cool British accents. It's fun just to listen to them talk. They made us a very good dinner of rice with our choice of a chicken topping or veggie topping. I had both and YUM!
We spent the evening at the church doing a joint mini-worship service with some of the members from the congregation. They were all very welcoming and excited to meet us. They've been praying for our arrival for a long time now. After singing together, Kevin taught briefly from a passage in Revelation and then called me up front (on the spot!) to share something with their congregation. So, I basically talked about how preparing for this trip over the past year has been very stretching for me personally and how we're excited to be working together with them as the body of Christ.
We're mostly settled in to bed right now, which didn't take much coaxing! lol We're all so dead tired from traveling with little to no sleep. Tomorrow we'll wake up at 6:30 AM, spend one-on-one alone time with God from 7:00 to 8:00 AM, eat breakfast and then head to the church to practice our dramas, skits, organize VBS stuff, set up the puppet stage, and start inviting children in the community to come out to VBS. We were supposed to start construction on the community center building, but the block hasn't arrived yet. It should be here Friday, though, which is when our construction leader from New Jersey shows up anyway, so we'll start hitting the bricks then instead.
Thank you again for all your prayers and please continue! We can't do this without your support and the Holy Spirit working through us to impact others for Christ.
I got pictures posted. Check them out here.

Wow, it's been a long time since I've used a dial-up Internet connection. I actually wrote up a full post on my computer and have pictures to share with you guys, but my Mac doesn't have a modem for dial-up, so I'm using someone else's laptop that does have it. Maybe later I'll find some place that has high-speed Internet so I can hook up my computer and share everything with you guys. They pay for dial-up by the minute, so this is brief just to let you all know that we made it safely with no complications! Woo hoo! Thanks for your prayers and keep 'em coming! It's hot, but fortunately a thunderstorm last night cooled things off a bit (although, it also took out the AC in some of our rooms).
I'll try to be in touch as much as I can, obviously depending on accessibility to the Internet.

June ParentLink: Help your kids know what's true
For this month's topic of "truth," we've provided lots of insights about teenagers' beliefs and how they're challenged in today's society. The concept of absolute truth is threatened by moral relativism and false teachings. Kids need to overcome doubt and stand strong for their faith. You'll appreciate this newsletter's practical discussion starters to get their kids talking about God, the Bible, and salvation. Download it here!
