The end of Burning Bush

Several years ago Burning Bush had a significant spiritual influence in many people's lives. It was a place of worship, spiritual renewal, fellowship and conviction, but for about two years now Allies has struggled to maintain the edge Burning Bush once had. Like any good program, Burning Bush served its purpose for a time and it did it well. However, when effectiveness of a program drops and it's no longer meeting the needs it once did, one must decide how long to continue investing into it. Last year Allies decided to revamp Burning Bush and put a different spin on it, hoping that would revitalize the potential ministry of Burning Bush. Unfortunately, it didn't. So, Allies decided that it is time to put Burning Bush to rest. It served us well, but we feel we should focus our time and energy into something that will have a more lasting impact than Burning Bush is currently having. What exactly that is and what it will look like, we're still not sure. We've discussed several ideas and are excited about where the Lord might lead us. Stay tuned for what lies ahead!

There will be no more Burning Bush meetings until Friday, May 30, at 7:00 PM. We'll be meeting at New Life Church in Alexandria to honor all our graduating seniors and to hold our final Burning Bush worship experience. We hope to see you all there for this final event.

If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to contact me directly. I'd love to answer any questions you have.

February ParentLink Newsletter

If you haven't seen it yet, this month's ParentLink Newsletter deals with teens and dating. It is full of helpful ideas and suggestions when it comes to this most difficult topic. You can either download it from our website or pick up a printed copy from the youth table at church.

LifeChurch.tv, an Evangelical Covenant church based in Oklahoma, have an excellent video sermon series called, "Goin' All The Way." I high recommend you watch it whether your married, single, a teen or preteen. Even view them as a family or with your spouse and discuss each afterwards as part of this Valentines Day season. See all four episodes online right here. If you'd rather view them on DVD, let me know and I'll be happy to get them to you.

Pillar and Building 429 Concert

Pillar and Building 429 are coming to the Destiny Center in Ashby, MN, on Sunday, February 24. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Get your tickets at iTickets.com or by calling 800-965-9324.

There will be no Sr. High youth group that night. Instead, we'll all carpool together to the concert. To help us know how many drivers to arrange, please sign up on our website. If you're an adult and can help drive, please sign up there, as well, and indicate that you're willing to help drive and how many total seatbelts are in your car.

Although trip is open to both Sr. High and Jr. High students, we'll be carpooling seperately and going as seperate groups. If you have any questions about it, feel free to contact me: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or 320-763-5659.

30-Hour Famine

It's coming up in two weeks! Februrary 29 to March 1 here at the church for all Sr. High students (9th-12th grade). Pick up your support-raising packets from the youth table at church and let us know you'll be participating so we can plan accordingly. Thanks!

Monday C-Groups location change

The Monday night C-Group will NOT be meeting at the Hurlbut's for several weeks. There's no C-Group this Monday night due to having school off the next day, but after that meetings will be at Amber Apol's parents' house. Their address is 1110 Latoka Hts Lane SW (see it on Google Maps), which is off County Rd 45 in the Horizon Heights neighborhood. Amber's cell phone is 815-2797 if you need help with directions.

Belize meeting is THIS Sunday

Woah, that came up fast! If you're even slightly interested in the missions trip to Belize this June 15-29, 2008 (open to 7th-12th grade), make sure you come to the Belize meeting this Sunday. Kevin Barber, our host and leader for the trip, will be here to give an overview of the trip, show pictures and videos of where we'll be and the people we'll be working with and answer all your questions. The meeting will immediately follow the 11:00 service, starting around 12:00 PM in the Ministry Center. Lunch will be provided. Following the meeting we'll make a quick DVD of ourselves for Kevin to take to the people in Belize when he visits them next month.

Mini Burning Bush Super Bowl Party

February 3 is our next Burning Bush, but it's also Super Bowl Sunday, so Allies is going to do both! We'll have a Super Bowl party and watch the game on a big screen and then have a mini Burning Bush during half time with a guest speaker from New Life Church.

The Super Bowl Party and Burning Bush are at Club One on February 3. Don't go to The Barn -- no one will be there. The game starts at 4:30 PM, so feel free to arrive a couple minutes beforehand if you'd like.

There's no FCA Super Bowl party this year, so invite a friend or three and we'll see you there!

New Sunday Series: Gospel Journey

For the past several weeks we've spend Sundays learing the Go Wide Strategy of sharing our faith with our friends: Pray, Persue, Persuade. Now we're taking it a step further with the Gospel Journey, a reality show series of an atheist, episcopalian, a minister's kid, a wiccan, an agnostic, a presbyterian, a city girl, and a preacher. Together they go through challenges and learn what the Gospel is really all about. Watch the video promo here.

Jr. High will go through this 8-part series starting this Sunday morning at 9:45 AM. Sr. High will go through it on Sunday nights at 7:00 PM starting in a week or two.
