Overview of fall ministry this year and how to stay updated

// September 16th, 2009 // No Comments » // Youth News

Today we’re excited to be into the first week of our regular fall schedule for this year! Here’s an overview of what’s going on each week with our youth group.

Sr. High Cafe: Sundays at 9:45 AM for 9th-12th graders.

Every Sunday morning Sr. High students enjoy a light breakfast together as they discuss life and God’s Word. Sometimes the group launches into two groups of 9th-10th graders and 11th-12th graders, sometimes everyone is together.

YouthBytes: Sundays at 9:45 AM for 7th-8th graders

Jr. High Sunday School is designed to be a fun time of personal interaction with both scripture and adult leaders. There’s games, teaching, fun videos, and round-table discussions with other jr. highers. We spend two weeks on a topic before moving on to the next. Our youth pastor, Tim Schmoyer, teaches this class and is joined by many other great adults who love jr. high students. Meet us in room #130A.

Sunday School at 9:45 AM for 6th graders

You will never see this much energy and excitement combined in one room anywhere else! The 6th graders play games and do activities together that illustrate the truths of scripture in tangible and memorable ways. Once 6th graders join this class, it becomes the highlight of their week because God’s Word becomes ingrained in their hearts through their fearless leader, Todd Vinjie, in room #131.

Impact: Sundays at 7:00 PM for 9th-12th graders

Impact is our large-group gathering for high school students. It takes place every Sunday night at church and characterized by fun group games, worship, in-depth Bible study teaching by our youth pastor, Tim Schmoyer, and discussion groups. If you’re in high school and want to be challenged in your understanding of the Word and your personal relationship with Christ, you won’t want to miss Impact meetings. It’s where you can be spiritually impacted so you can go and make an impact for Him.

C-Groups: 6:30 PM at various locations for 9th-12th graders

Throughout the week there are several small group experiences for high school students. These groups meet in homes around Alexandria where they enjoy dinner together, share life stories and interact with God’s Word. It’s a great way to be challenged in your walk with Christ on a regular basis with others who are often going through the same journey in life.

Mondays meet at a the Hurlbut’s house and the Wednesday C-Groups meet at the Giroux’s house and the Jody Carlson’s house.

The Journey: 6:30 PM at church for 7th-8th graders

Our discipleship/confirmation class for jr. highers covers the entire Bible in two years. They spend one year going through the New Testament and another year going through the Old Testament so that, by the time they enter high school, they have a general understanding of the entire Bible. Our time together starts in the gym with large-group games and fun before launching into many small groups around the church led by the most incredible team of adult youth workers.

Journey registration tonight, fall ministry starts on Sunday

// September 9th, 2009 // No Comments » // Youth News

Sorry for this message being so brief this week (or maybe you like it that way!). It’s been pretty crazy around here getting ready for all ministry programs gearing up to start next week.

Just real quick, jr highers, remember that registration for The Journey is tonight from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. All 7th and 8th graders need to register, even if you were a part of The Journey last year. AWANA registration is happening at the same time.

All Sunday School classes start this Sunday at 9:45 AM, too. Sr. High Cafe (9th-12th graders) are out in the Beacon, Jr High (7th-8th graders) are in room 130, and 6th graders are in room 131.

C-Groups start next week, as well. Monday C-Group meets at the Hurlbut’s house, and on Wednesday there is a C-Group meeting at the Giroux’s house and also at Jody Carlson’s house. They all start at 6:30 PM and include free dinner.

If you’re a parent and are interested in serving with the jr. highers this year, we’d love to explore different opportunities with you that are available. Call Tim Schmoyer’s cell at 320-808-4357.

We’re excited about hanging out with you students and studying God’s Word together throughout the next school year!
