Parent Dinner this Thursday

The Schmoyer’s are hosting the final parent dinner for the summer at their house tomorrow, Thursday, July 30. It’s a great opportunity for us to get to know each other a little better and talk about how the youth ministry can link arms with you parents to influence your teenagers’ spiritual walk. The dinner is from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

To sign up, call the church office at 320-763-5659. If you can bring a drink, desert, main dish, salad or anything else to share, that would be great!

No Soul Fuel this week

Due to the parent dinner tomorrow, there will be no Jr. High Soul Fuel meeting. However, next week, August 6, all jr highers should bring a swimming suit and towel along with their bibles. We’ll have a great time swimming in the lake before we get started with our Bible study.

Of course, if the Schmoyer’s have their baby around that time, Soul Fuel will again be canceled, so please keep your eye on AlexandriaYouth.com for the latest info.

Sr. High Canoe Trip

The Sr. High Canoe Trip is on Sunday, August 9th! The cost is $25/student. Parents who are able to help drive are welcome to come for free. We even cover your gas. We’ll leave the church after the 8:30 AM service (around 9:30 AM) and will arrive back at the church around 7:00 or 8:00 PM. Wear a bathing suit (one-piece suit for girls, please), extra money for dinner on the way home, sunscreen, and a packed lunch to eat once we arrive at the canoe rental place.

Interested in baptism?

On August 16 the church is hosting a baptismal service on Lake Burgen. If you’re interested in being baptized, there’s a class in room 114 at church on on August 9 from 12:00 to 1:30 PM. Sign up at the welcome center at church or by calling the church office.

If you’re a teenager and are unable to make it to the class due to the canoe trip or another conflict, contact Tim Schmoyer to schedule another time to go through the baptism material.

Movie night, Wake ‘n Ski, Parent Dinner

Movie Night this Friday!

This Friday we’re watching a movie on the BIG screen! Meet at the Schmoyer’s house for a movie on the outside wall of their house. Bring some snacks for yourself, lawn chairs or a blanket, and plenty of bug spray. The movie title is picked, but we can’t legally publish it, so text message Tim or ask on our Facebook Page if you wanna know what movie we’re seeing. It’ll start playing a little after 9:00 PM.

Wake ‘n Ski this Sunday

Wake ‘n Ski is at the Lambert’s house this Sunday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Be sure to arrive as close to 2:00 PM as possible so we can group up and get right out on the water. Free dinner is included!

Parent Dinner next Thursday

Tim and Dana would love to connect with you parents at their house. Thursday, July 30, at 6:30 PM they are having an open house for all parents to come and have dinner together. We’ll talk about your kids, our youth ministry, and ask for ways we can continue to support you and partner with you in your ministry to your kids. We just ask that you RSVP so we can plan accordingly. Contact Ruth in the church office to sign-up and let us know if you can bring a salad, drink, main dish, desert, or just yourself.

C-Groups/Soul Fuel

As usual, C-Groups for 9th-12th graders are at the Giroux’s on Wednesdays. Sand volleyball starts at 5:00 PM, dinner is at 6:30 PM and Bible study is at 7:00 PM.

Soul Fuel for jr. highers meets at the Schmoyer’s house on Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 PM. Hope to see you there!

Date changed for sr. high canoe trip, MUUUCE deadline, Movie night, more

New date for sr. high canoe trip

Unfortunately, the original date for the sr. high canoe trip conflicted with Lake Beauty Bible Camp for many students, so we rescheduled it for Sunday, August 9. If you are going into 9th-12th grade this year, we’d love to have you join us! Some details you need to know:

• To sign up, contact Ruth in the church office.
• The cost is $25/person.
• If you are a parent and can help drive, you come free! We even cover your gas.
• We leave the church at 9:30 AM after the first church service and will return around 7:00 or 8:00 PM.
• Pack a lunch to eat right when we arrive at the canoe rental place.
• Bring some money for dinner on the way home.

CHIC updates on website

Remember to keep your eye on our youth group website at http://www.AlexandriaYouth.com as students and leaders at CHIC post pictures, videos and status updates from their cell phones. It’s a great way to see and read the play-by-play of their time in Tennessee.

MUUUCE deadline is next week

Students going into 7th-9th grade may sign up for MUUUCE until this Monday, July 20. The cost is $96/person. See Ruth in the church office to get a registration form and fill out the appropriate paperwork.

We also still need parents to help drive us to and from MUUUCE and to stay for the duration of the weekend as chaperons. Let Ruth know if you’re willing to help serve with us at MUUUCE, August 13-15.

For everyone else, our church is signed up to pray for MUUUCE on Thursday, August 13, from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Please remember to pray for us throughout the trip, but especially for the event in general during that time.

Wake ‘n Ski coming up

Our next Wake ‘n Ski is Sunday, July 26, at the Lambert’s house. The cost is free, dinner included! Meet there at 2:00 PM and plan to be picked up around 6:00 PM. It’s a great time to meet new people, learn how to wake board, water ski, and go tubing, and, of course, have fun.

Next parent dinner

The next parent dinner at the Schmoyer’s house is in two weeks, Thursday, July 30, at 6:30 PM. If you were unable to attend the previous dinner want to come again, please see Ruth in the church office and RSVP. We’ll talk about the youth ministry, parenting, and how we can link arms with you parents to team-up and reach your kids for Christ.

CHIC updates on our website next week

During past youth events, Tim updated our youth group website with pictures, videos and status updates from his cell phone. However, during CHIC, everyone on the trip will be able to update the “LiveStream” section of our site from their cell phones via text message, picture message, and video messages of what’s going on.

Teens who are going to CHIC: You will get a little postcard with directions about how to send pics, vids and updates when you get to the bus on Saturday.

Parents: Be sure to check our youth group website regularly throughout the week to see the content kids and leaders submit. In fact, we have an entire page devoted to it.

Other CHIC Details

The bus is leaving this Saturday at 10:30 AM, sooner than we originally thought. Make sure you’re here in plenty of time to get your bags loaded.

Bring a bag lunch to eat on the bus. The bus will not be stopping for several hours after you leave the church.

If you would like to sign up for a second excusion you will have to wait until you get to the CHIC campus. On Sunday you can go to the Thompson Bowling Arena with your money and sign up for any openings that are available.

Bus health forms need to be in the office by Thursday, July 9. If your form is not turned in, please contact Ruth Nelson at the church office immediately. Phone: 320-763-5659.

Leave room in one of your bags for a small notebook and pen we will give to each of you before loading your bags on the bus.

We are still having C-Groups next week

For you high schoolers who are not going to CHIC, we are still having C-Groups at the Giroux’s house as normally scheduled on Wednesday, July 15.

Movie Night on the BIG screen

July 24 is movie night at the Schmoyer’s. We hang a big sheet on the outside of their house, bring in a projector and sound system and watch a movie on the outside of their house. Legally, we cannot publicize what movie we will be showing, but we trust it will be one you will enjoy. Make sure you bring bug spray, a blanket or lawn chair, and a snack to munch on if you want. The movie will start around 9:00 PM.

Jr. High Soul Fuel

If you’re in 7th or 8th grade and are not hanging out at the Schmoyer’s house on Thursdays at 7:00 PM, you’re missing a lot of fun! We have a great time playing games, hanging out, and talking about God’s Word. Come see us this Thursday!

MUUUCE info

The date to get your deposit in for MUUUCE has passed, but you can still register and come with us by turning in your MUUUCE form and $96 to the church office by July 20. See our previous news update for more details about MUUUCE.
